Why study translation here
A bilingual workplace
The African Development Bank works in English and French.
Tools and technique
Translation software, post-editing and subtitling, not theory alone.
An LMD diploma
A three-year Licence that opens onto a Master.
Built for the region
Côte d’Ivoire borders English-speaking Ghana and Liberia.
Course structure
Built on the LMD system, the Licence runs over six semesters and 180 ECTS credits. The first year builds the linguistic base, the second turns to translation technique and tools, and the third concentrates on specialised translation and interpreting before closing with an internship and a final-year project that you write up and defend.
Year one
Foundations
Year one builds the linguistic base: general linguistics, advanced English and French, literature and stylistics and the theory and history of translation, with political economy, business law and communication alongside.
